Every day, the zombies grew more pervasive.

Caught up in their electronics, in their tussles with devices, in the simulations and in the flirtations with artificial intelligence.

Gatsby had killed a few. He hadn’t really meant to. It had been an accident, really, because he was too powerful indeed.

Mind breakers like him had that knack.

But it didn’t matter. All that mattered was Daisy — waiting for him on the end of a string.

Tomorrow he would wake up in a new world, he hoped.

A world where she realized what she meant to him.

That day was not today.

This series is inspired by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in a city on the brink of dystopian musings. Each story is 100 words, a snapshot of a larger narrative at play.
