“How are you here?” I asked the ghost when she appeared at the foot of my bed one night in December.

She wore a flower crown in her pale hair as she cocked her head. “Do you think you’re the only one who can use magic?”

I felt a trickle of fear pass through me. “Magic?” I laughed. “Hardly. Or do you call mind control magic?”

“It’s a kind of magic,” she said. Then she walked towards me, her hand outstretched. “Do you trust me?”

“No,” I said.

She smiled. “But you will.”

And somehow I knew she wasn’t lying.

This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “Only a Stranger” from Victoria Justice.
