Amal walked through the battlefield, feeling the earth call to her beneath her feet as she moved. Tendrils of her hair floated above her head, the power in her skin snapping to life like electricity. Her green eyes glowed with the mess of synapses flaring bright inside her veins with every movement she made.

Then she stopped, glancing to her side, to find a man staring at her across the way. She raised her hand in a fist, ready to send a spray of energy towards him in a rush.

But he raised his hands in surrender.

Amal smiled, victorious.

This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “A Thousand Miles” from Vanessa Carlton.
