Yesterday Was a Blur
A Poem
i’m still lost in some kind of daydream
where up is down and down is up,
as if the world’s tilted on its frame
and leading me to farther pastures.
the truth is yesterday was a blur,
and i don’t know how to deal
with all the white noise
leaving me reeling.
and you’re still here
in a corner of my mind,
taking time and keeping tabs,
while i wonder what’s the cost of dreams.
where do i go when my thoughts
are my own worst enemies?
where do i hide away when life
is just so damn unfair?
i’m still caught up in the haze
of acting like everything’s okay
while puppets and their masters
rule every hour of the day.
the truth is yesterday was a blur,
and i’m looking for silver linings
in storm clouds on the horizon
keeping me awake.
