wish you were
something magical,
something magnificent,
but maybe you’re just someone
who’s a little too unsure of themselves.

wish you were
something transcendant,
something transformative,
but maybe you’re just someone
who’s waiting on too many cues.

wish you were
something soulful,
something special,
but maybe you’re just someone
who’s looking for all the wrong things.

wish you were
something charismatic,
something caring,
but maybe you’re just someone
who’s a little too jaded to be believed.

wish you were
something forever,
something faithful,
but maybe you’re just someone
who’s got their heart on too many sleeves.

wish you were
something full,
something fair,
but maybe you’re just someone
who’s never going to be waiting for me.
