Why Online Learning Was the Best Option for Me
But I understand why it doesn’t work for others.
Some people have told me that the worst school years they had occurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic when all learning became remote. High school seniors saw their last year of school go out with little to no fanfare. College and university students found their in-person classes suddenly thrown into the realm of remote learning. Students of all ages suffered because of the lack of socialization, and teachers struggled to find the right ways to attend to their students in this strange new environment of Zoom meetings and an online curriculum.
I went through my last two semesters of college during the height of the pandemic, but I didn’t find myself flummoxed. Why? I had transitioned to all online classes for the latter half of my degree. And, even before that, I had chosen as many online courses as I could — except for some general education requirements like speech and biology.
“Why did you choose that path, Jillian?” you may ask.
The simple answer: in-person classes gave me a lot of anxiety I didn’t need in my life.
Most of my professors were wonderful in my initial college courses; the problem wasn’t any of the teachers. Rather, I didn’t intermix well with a classroom setting…
