When Will You Open Your Eyes and See Me?

A Poem

the sun hides under cloud cover
and we’re lost in other worlds
to keep from facing the light
that burns along every path

open your eyes, open your eyes
see me, please, see me

the clouds brim with meaning
as I chart constellations above,
anything to fall under radar
of what might come into being

open your eyes, open your eyes
see me, please, see me

the moon tells the story of tonight,
her face hidden in shadow,
and every silken sight breathes
in and out, steady, no rush

open your eyes, open your eyes
see me, please, see me

the sky weeps on and off,
but the night has come
with no room for rainbows
in the bleak wash of midnight

open your eyes, open your eyes
see me, please, see me

the stars blink from so far away,
journeys across lifetimes,
and burning bright is…
