My husband left me to die in the space station orbiting the asteroid colony he ruled.
He said I was too wild, too unpredictable, too attuned to the whims of the Voices that spoke to me from the depths of the earth on which we had stood.
It was easier to lock me away and pretend nothing was amiss.
He wanted power and prestige.
I wanted nothing but peace.
I nearly went mad in my seclusion. All I had was Alphard, the AI system that kept me company in those long and lonely days.
I had to escape.
