In dreams, Lovergirl saw a world upended.
Fires claimed everything. Buildings crumbled. The dead walked the streets.
She awoke with tears in her eyes.
Where would they be if Silversundown fell?
Without even missing a beat, she called Ghostboy.
He answered on the second ring.
“Another dream?” he asked, concern clear in his voice.
“Yes,” she said. “They keep getting worse.”
“Just rest, my love. They can’t hurt us.”
“Do you really think so? I’m not so sure.”
“You worry far too much.”
“Oh, Adam,” she whispered, “what would I do without you?”
“Good thing you’ll never have to know.”
The Chronicles of Ghostboy and Lovergirl is a microfiction series inspired by Taylor Swift’s Lover album (released 2019). Each story can be read as a standalone, but they build on each other for this superhero universe I’ve created.
