Unbreakable Heaven
A Poem
i look to the skies
and find no relief above
because you’re not there —
not like they promised so long ago.
and it’s a blaze of glory,
some fairy tale gone mad,
that our love story’s ended
with just a snap of the fingertips.
and it’s a quiet scheme,
how they take us so soon,
perhaps before we’ve even begun —
as if we’re just chess pieces on a board.
i look to the faraway clouds,
those pink and white daydreams,
and wonder if you’ll ever think of me
on days that are long like this in summertide.
and it’s your way, isn’t it,
to watch from afar and keep quiet?
and it’s your way, isn’t it,
to see me struggle and not say a word?
and it’s my haze, isn’t it,
that i held onto hope for too long?
and it’s my haze, isn’t it,
that i thought you might come back?
