look down, look down,
and see the mess
these humans made

look down, look down,
and wonder why they
even persist at all

look down, look down,
and wonder if even you gods
have ever stirred such war

look down, look down —
see the swatches of barren soil
choked, no water to be found

look down, look down,
and tell yourself it’s just a phase —
they can’t eradicate their own species

look down, look down —
don’t intervene, such a hassle,
even as the winds strike back

look down, look down —
call the trumpets, prepare a feast,
maybe some will be victorious

look down, look down —
the greatest deities in the skies,
yet they don’t lift a finger

look down, look down —
what a tragedy, what a shame,
these humans kill each other every day
