Would I coach her, or would she coach me?

Amy Sorenza was a firestorm on and off the court.

I knew it from the videos I’d seen. I hadn’t had the chance to see her play live, but she was something to behold from the way she could go back and forth, volleying every which way, sweat pouring from her as she worked her muscles to extreme strain.

“Can you take her?” Amy’s former coach asked me. “She’s a lot to handle.”

I couldn’t help smiling. “I like a challenge.”

“Oh, she’ll be more than a challenge. She’s a trial by fire.”

Somehow, of that I had no doubt.
