The Spider’s Bride

100 Faces in 100 Stories — No9

--

No one would think saving a spider could change a person’s life.

But it did for me. I carefully scooped up the frightened little thing before I released it outside to live another day.

My sisters said I was too soft, laughing at me for the kindness they saw as weakness.

I tried not to let their words tear at my heart.

The next morning, I awoke to a room full of cobwebs, the silver threads gleaming faintly in the light.

I didn’t think it was an auspicious sign.

I didn’t think I had awakened something.

Until I met him.
