The angel stood on the precipice between this world and the next.
But he hesitated, glancing back over his shoulder as he took in the sight of purgatory. It was a gray landscape with souls floating listlessly as phantasms.
Holy light filtered ahead, but still he did not move forward.
Something called him back — a voice out of the ether.
I still need you.
The girl’s voice was a beacon in the fog of purgatory.
He should have ignored it. His purpose had been achieved.
He had saved the world.
But she still waited, pleading for him to come back.
This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “Pretty Wings” from Maxwell.
