There were rumors that prisoners haunted the tower that loomed over the city — but no one had ever substantiated the claims with actual proof even after years of hearsay.
That was where detectives like Annalise Hugo came in. With her assistant Marshall Green, it was high time that someone got to the bottom of the ghosts in the tower.
Screams? Bloodshed? Bumps in the night?
No, Annalise was not one to be dissuaded by trickery. At such moments, Marshall would shake his head at her even as a knowing smile tugged at his lips.
“You never disappoint,” he said fondly.
This is my fourth take on the 100 Story Challenge. As of this writing (September 2023), my third run — 100 Lyrics into Stories — is still in progress because finding songs that are stimulating and inspiring is a bit harder than I thought. But stay tuned! I haven’t given up on it.
“Why do you keep doing this challenge?” you may ask. “What are you hoping to achieve? Why haven’t you gone the gamut for expanding them and running with one of these ideas into a longer story?”
