For the story that led to this point:
Etta Donaghue felt her smile begin to crack long before she ran out of the gym in the direction of the school parking lot. Her face had hurt from the strain of grinning for such a long period of time.
At one point, Landon even took her to the side and told her she didn’t look happy enough even though this was their night.
She wished she could have thrown a glass of punch straight into his face.
But she kept composed — until she returned from touching up her make-up to see Landon slow-dancing with his ex-girlfriend Tracy.
She didn’t even think before she bolted out of the gymnasium.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

By the time she reached the double doors leading outside, she could feel her mascara streaming down her cheeks.
