The Lure of Smokeless Fire
#100StoryChallenge — N066
The jinn in the desert spoke of secrets long past — whims of a lost world, gone to sand and dust.
Sisters Annalie and Demure knew better than to trust the words of gods made of smokeless fire.
The sisters told themselves they would not be chained to fates not of their own design.
They had watched cities burn for the sake of wishes that were never granted.
But temptation and ambition were tricky things. You never knew when they might strike.
Annalie made a promise she couldn’t keep.
The golden lamp seemed an easy escape.
What would three wishes do?
