Not all cats are lucky, but some have the best of all worlds at the tips of their paws.

If there was one thing cats knew how to do, it was the way to invoke Lady Fortune smiling upon them and the sanctity of their nine lives. Not all strays knew how to tap into this great well, but for the most part many did very well.

It was just a shame that luck didn’t play into the matter of language. Humans had a tendency to misread simple cues like meows and the telltale hack-hack-hack of an encroaching hairball. Yes, your cat meant to puke into the planter you just bought from the local greenhouse. It was a sign — couldn’t you tell?

And humans? Well, there were some who were just easy marks. How else can you explain how one person attracts a myriad of strays to their doorsteps? Lady Fortune had a hand in that, most likely, guiding the way for the lost kitties who would not have been able to find a way on their own. Felines were known to share stories too through their far-traveling yowls in the night. Gossip — it was a thing even among the smallest creatures.

But do these felines share their good fortune? Anyone who has ever been graced with the presence of a cat knows how special it feels to have that little beast’s affection. Curled up in a ball of fur and…
