I told her I wouldn’t be her fall guy anymore.

But Riviera looked at me with those star-bright eyes of hers and leaned in close enough that I could smell her rosewater perfume. “It’s just one last heist, Victor,” she said. “Don’t you want to see what we can do? This is the opportunity of a lifetime.”

I muttered something about curses and jail time, but Riviera just smirked.

“Since when have you been afraid of consequences?”

Since you let me down again and again.

But I wouldn’t say that to her.

Riviera had enough leverage over me already.
