The girl wasn’t supposed to choose the journey.

No, no, no — she was meant to stumble upon it as if it were a secret trap laid just for her.

Take up the sword? Chase away the villains? Free the prince from imprisonment?

Impossible!

That wasn’t the way this tale was supposed to go.

A heroine was meant to be coddled — not admired and desired.

Rip away the dress? Break out of her cage? Growl at the idea of fate?

Insanity!

Take her away, take her away!

Surely no one wants to see this mockery?

Oh, wait — you’re intrigued?

How odd.

This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
