The Ghostly Bride
#100StoryChallenge — No20
The bride often wanders the graveyard where she breathed her last.
Her beautiful gown trails the ground, snagging and tearing on the roots, but she does not stop her haunting patterns.
She is ever on the watch for the return of the man who left her — her groom, her love, her murderer.
But only the lonely teens in town ever frequent the abandoned cemetery. Urban legends abound, but no one pays them any heed.
On a quiet night like tonight, you might hear the soft wails of the abandoned, murdered bride.
Maybe one day she’ll find someone else to love.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
