i’m a lost soul, it’s true —
and i write these lines
as the truest pieces of me
each time i stray.

boundaries —
perhaps i didn’t know them
each time i wrote you into being,
calling you from the shadows of my mind.

i don’t know the future,
can’t know it,
but i know you’re standing there
on an opposite end from me.

i’m the one holding out my hand to you,
but you’re not seeing me —
not listening at all —
as i beseech you to know me true.

listen to me,
ask me questions,
don’t just brush me off with games —
i’m better than that.

the only way hope can live
is if we thrive together —
is if we stand as a force,
something to be known at will.

nothing may happen in this book,
but i wanted to know you regardless
even if you’d be a villain down the line
because i’m…
