The first time she awoke, something deep inside her felt as if it had been pried open and examined. Her body hummed with a shocked numbness — though she didn’t understand everything back then.
Everything was so new.
Sight. Sound. Taste. Smell.
And touch as the last as she pressed her hands together and felt the friction of skin meeting skin. The sensation buzzed through her, and she knew what wonder was as everything combined into one large picture of being.
But curiosity was one thing. Knowledge would be a far, far different experience.
Then she looked up and saw him.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
