“A deal?” Tigerlily shook her head. “I don’t make deals with the likes of you.”
“Oh? Even when your brother’s fate is up in the air? Careful, Veronica.”
She ground her teeth together. “What. Do. You. Want?”
“Just something to make both of us happy. You’re a nuisance, thinking you have some power when you don’t. Leave Silversundown to the professionals.”
“So, what? You’re silencing me?”
“No. I’m paying you off. I’ll give you a lump sum to take your brother and get the hell out of this city.”
She pursed her lips. “Why?”
“Because you’re not the hero type.”
The Chronicles of Ghostboy and Lovergirl is a microfiction series inspired by Taylor Swift’s Lover album (released 2019). Each story can be read as a standalone, but they build on each other for this superhero universe I’ve created.
