“Don’t give me those eyes,” Isolde said, taking his hand in hers. “You and I both know this is for the best.”

But Tristan shook his head, the gleam of tears in his eyes. “I would have moved the stars for you. I wish we had more time.”

She squeezed his hand. “Your songs will always be a part of my heart. Believe me.”

He let out a shaky breath. “Will you remember me? Even when no one else does?”

“Of course,” she said, bringing a kiss to his cheek.

Two hearts broke that night — but healing would come soon.
