Snow White’s story was just the beginning.
After her exile from the kingdom, she took the name Nefaria.
It didn’t matter what she had been called before: she left behind that moniker that had been far too pretty for her intentions. Besides, it was best to start anew. She still had no guarantee that Snow White wouldn’t send an assassin after her at some point.
It was a miracle she had saved her head in the first place.
The new queen might forgive and forget — or she might try to burn and purge. It was still too early to tell.
But that was no longer Nefaria’s concern. If the kingdom preferred an undead queen who could escape almost every manner of death, that was their business.
Nefaria had been a witch queen, but the verdict on her magic use had turned against her in the days following Snow White’s resurrection.
Luckily, she still had ancestral land in the nearby country of Lucithea. No one had laid claim to it because her family had been well-known — and feared — for their magic.
It was far too easy to fall into the fabricated life of a peasant woman whose husband had succumbed to the plague. One might have thought she would have resented such a plain life — rid of all the wealth…
