Sir Edwin hadn’t intended to volunteer to teach the princess how to dance.

“Oh, go on, Ed,” his friend cajoled. “Teach the little lady how it’s done.”

At a loss, Edwin cast a questioning look to the princess — who just smiled at him shyly. Then she held out her hand.

“Shall we?”

How could he refuse the girl whose life he was sworn to protect?

But grasping her hand shouldn’t have felt so easy, so simple, so right.

“Is this okay?” he asked gruffly, his hand finding her waist.

She nodded — though her cheeks were stained scarlet. “Yes, it’s perfect.”
