Yasmin walked the city streets after dusk. Her favorite drone, Lee, lagged behind at a mechanical pace.

“Mistress,” it called, “do you know where we’re going?”

“No, but I’ll find the way,” she said, flashing the robotic companion a swift smile. Its answering whirr told her it was pleased even if it would never voice the words aloud because of its programming.

“You are an enigma, as always,” Lee said.

But she just shook her head. “You are too, friend.”

In this world, where aliens had taken over centuries ago, it was indeed a wonder to find a companion in a drone of all things. They may have been programmed, but they at least knew better than the rogue humans who walked around and scammed every which way.

But Yasmin knew the winds of change were coming. The enslaved would soon be freed. It was written in the Sacred Book of Rites — an old text left over from the Lumina people who had once populated the planet.

When Yasmin reached the door of Spire, today’s destination, she smiled to herself as she placed her hand against the metal door.

“Rashishi,” she murmured in the Olde tongue — and the door opened.

Into the Fog follows a rag-tag group of adventurers who are headed towards the stars. In this installment, we meet the protagonist Yasmin who wields the Sacred Arts in an attempt to try and save the planet she’s hailed from. But is all as it seems? We shall see!

In our next installment, we’ll meet Ren — the one hunting Yasmin for the chance to secure his own ticket off the dying planet.
