The Chosen One
#100StoryChallenge — No74
Were you waiting on a hero? So was the rest of the world.
When he didn’t arrive on cue, though, it was time to look elsewhere.
A dying world needed someone to save it.
The sorcerers went from town to town, village to village, in search of the person whose aura glowed like a miracle.
But they were looking for all the wrong things. Bravery and battle-readiness weren’t the only criteria.
Honesty, integrity, sanctity — maybe these should have been assessed.
They overlooked her, their chosen one, so easily.
Instead, they put all their hopes on her brother.
What fools.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
