In dreams, Tigerlily ran under a downpour with no umbrella to keep her from the rain.
Only when she stopped to catch her breath under an awning did she realize she was not alone. On a stoop behind her sat a faceless man.
Even though it was a dream, she knew a part of her had shivered.
“Who are you?” she asked, quiet, and the man shook his head.
“It’s a matter of time.”
The voice sounded familiar.
“Time? What do you mean?”
She imagined the man might have smiled — if he had had a face. “You’ll realize soon enough.”
The Chronicles of Ghostboy and Lovergirl is a microfiction series inspired by Taylor Swift’s Lover album (released 2019). Each story can be read as a standalone, but they build on each other for this superhero universe I’ve created.
