tell me
what you wish i was

tell me
what you dream about
in that head of yours

tell me
what fantasies run fast
with that quick-fire wit of yours

tell me
what dances through that skull,
what phantoms make way in simple dances

tell me
what’s in the maze of what you think,
what you find in your mind’s vaults

tell me
all these things
and more, more, more

tell me a story
that will revive the heroine
and kiss awake the sleeping prince

tell me a story
where the dragon is an ally
instead of a beast to be feared at large

tell me a story
where we are the heroes in our own stories
instead of passers-by who know no whims this way or that

tell me a story
where hope is the key ingredient,
that thing we savor above all else
