i’m losing time
inch by inch,
yet i can’t find it in myself
to let go of this moment

your hand in mine
feels like a keepsake

and the kiss on my lips
is a cornerstone
of something
to come

i tell myself
it doesn’t matter
if tomorrow dawns
or not

but i’m such a liar
because i crave the warmth
of sunrise on my skin
and you in my bed

my hourglass heart
can only take so much

and the beat of it thrums
for you, for you
in these stolen whispers
of someone else’s life

the stitches on my chest
turned to scars,
and you were the balm
when everything was gray

and i wandered so much
in those years
while my heart lay in pieces
in my back pocket
