Muses didn’t get enough publicity in the modern world. Once upon a time, there had been odes and ballads written in the names of muses far and wide. But today every bit of praise fell to the artists even as their inspirations hid in the shadows.
Being a muse in New York was especially tiring. Musicians on every street corner thought they had the recipe for success, if only a little fortune would come their way. And the number of art galleries was overwhelming even for the most seasoned muse.
Everyone wanted to be an artist.
But were they worthy?
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
