Poetry

budding, wilting, sighing, sweeping —

green was the way you made me feel.

wondering, dreaming, trying, being —

blue was the way I wanted to be.

kissing, crying, loving, deepening —

red was the way your love swept me up.

dousing, cresting, flying, cascading —

violet was the way I wanted our love to shift.

rising, becoming, yielding, blossoming —

orange was the way you saw me grow.

setting, blazing, burning, changing —

yellow was the way you thought I’d leave.

sleeping, darkening, consuming, gathering —

indigo was the way we brought each other together.

arching, maddening, jolting, exciting —

the rainbow was the way we held on despite the odds.
