It was another day where I saw magic misused by men who had nothing better to do. Would-be warlocks were my least favorite kind of creature.

“Oh? You know sorcery?”

He offered a lazy smile, sparks dancing along his fingertips. “I know much more than parlor tricks,” he said — and the innuendo was not lost on me.

But I pretended to be amazed, letting my lips curve. “Can I see?”

He extended his hand, and ivy began to sprout from his palm.

I breathed out, my blood singing in my veins.

Yes, his magic would be good to devour.
