Should I Shout to the Rooftops That I’m THE Top Writer in Fiction on Medium?
Just allow me this moment (even if it lasts only a second).
Before I start, I just want to say: I know the Top Writer tags are very fickle and precarious on Medium. One week you can be in the top five for a tag, and then the next week you can not even figure into the stats at all even in the greater expanse.
But I still look at tags because I discover new writers and stories depending on who/what is trending. My particular favorite is Fiction — where I found quite a surprise earlier today.
I know. Top Writer status doesn’t mean that much these days. But the current stats for the Fiction tag boast 49K writers with over 160K stories. Those aren’t New York Times Bestseller numbers, but they’re still pretty great, especially considering that I mostly self-publish my fiction (though my fiction has had homes in a few publications, particularly Microcosm and The Lark).
