Amelia wasn’t supposed to be a monster.
But the prom queen crown was cursed, just like the town’s urban legend went. The last prom queen, murdered on her seventeenth birthday, wouldn’t let anyone else wear the crown.
Amelia tried — and failed.
The crown on her head dripped with blood.
Her beautiful dress felt like a strait-jacket trying to suffocate her.
She tried to cry out, but only a guttural moan slipped from her lips.
All her peers fled the gym while she stared on.
Then the bloodlust kicked in, and she didn’t fight it.
She went on the hunt.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
