Secrets of the Hive

100 Faces in 100 Stories — No14

--

It was supposed to be an experiment that brought the idea of the Hive-mind mentality to humanity in its darkest hour.

I was meant to be just a tool for a greater good. They wanted me to sit there and be poked and prodded with no purpose of my own.

But the bees liked me. They brushed against my skin and spoke to me in their humming language that was far kinder than human words had ever been to me.

No one expected the bees would choose a silly girl, a child, as their new queen.

That was me.
