Secret Sky
A Poem
there are days where i can’t
imagine life without you —
and it all stands as something
i would rather not have
(even as a part of me
wishes for more)
and every line,
every captive sentence,
brought me closer
to the truth of you
and every word,
gilded in crimson paint,
made me wish for you
all the more
until i could barely manage
a moment
without you
(how did we lose each other
before we even had a chance
to begin)
and i wondered what you did
in the moments i lost you —
and i wondered what you craved
in the days i lived without you
every moment,
i wonder —
and every moment
i sigh
and it was all spun
in webs we couldn’t see —
and it was all missed
in tomes we wouldn’t read
