you know the type, don’t you?

she’s got a problem every day,

and the eye of the storm is always

her

you’ve seen the posts, haven’t you?

all those social media comments

adding up to a vision that does not paint

her

in the best light

you think she smiles for the camera?

what a lark — don’t you get it?

she’s all sequin teeth and pink lipstick,

her

brand of what it means to succeed

oh, you want to believe in the pictures?

take a gander, I dare you, just to see

that she’s losing the grip on

her

tightly wound reality made for the masses

you want to feel sorry for glamour girl?

go ahead, I won’t tell anyone —

but don’t expect the same regard since

her

game has always revolved around herself

fine, though, you know the risks

of loving someone you don’t really know

and acting as a staunch ally,

her

stalwart knight in the shadows

I bet she will be so pleased

to have someone who just wants to

save her from herself
