Run Far, Far Away
#100StoryChallenge — No98
Alex felt as if all she did was run these days.
First, the power grids failed; within weeks, most of civilization ceased to function.
It was a miracle she had survived thus far, especially since it had been a month since she had been separated from her parents.
Scrounging and scavenging had become a way of life in short order. Alex stayed on her feet most of the time in the hope she’d never be caught off-guard. Sleeping had become a luxury.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
The end of the world wasn’t supposed to be prolonged.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
