coming up fast, going down lanes,
trying to find the truth in it,
weaving through these city streets
and waiting on some kind of hope

bright eyes, nowhere to go,
heaven sent, timeless whims —
we’re sipping sunlight
down this long coast

and then i look over
and it’s just you and me
taking time, keeping score,
singing along to all our anthems

and it’s lightning struck
the way it hits me then
with perfect clarity
like a vision

baby, you’re my ride or die —
can’t live this lie no more
because you brought out
the spark in me

and we’re caught in
the crosshairs of another mistake
brought on by restless nights
looking for some kind of release

and we’re lost in
this bittersweet time of our lives
that’s never gonna come again
no matter how much life we lead
