A Poem

such a pleasure,
meeting like this,
and thinking
there might be stars
at work,
aligning just for us
in this moment
captured out of
thousands

maybe I swooned
too soon
and flirted
a bit much —
but let’s blame it
on the wine

red always was
my color,
and white
just washed out
what little color
I possessed

oh, such a delight
to dance with you
while others
look on
with envy
in their eyes

step closer —
yes, just like that —
and I’ll share
more
than my secrets
because I like you
and you like me
(don’t you?)
in this game we play
