“Ravish Me,” She Said
Ours was a love closeted in the shadows.
Kirk and Miranda hadn’t been dating very long, but she was giddy the first time he invited her back to his apartment. She brought a six-pack of his favorite ale as a peace offering even though she didn’t drink. The deal was that he’d make her favorite dessert — a chocolate trifle from her cousin’s recipe — if she brought the booze.
“You’re early,” he said, his tone appraising when he opened the door to her. She tried not to appear too eager — like a puppy given a new toy — but she couldn’t help the giddy feeling she felt when she saw him and took his appearance in. He was dressed casually in a Stranger Things t-shirt and black sweatpants. In her mind’s eye, she imagined lifting the shirt off his frame and kissing her way down his smooth chest.
But that would have to come later. Propriety and all that.
“I didn’t want to keep you waiting,” she said, not meeting his eyes. But then he put a finger to her chin and lifted her face until she was forced to look him in his hazel eyes.
“You’re worth waiting for, every time,” he said, and she knew from his tone that he was being sincere. Her body hummed as she took in his easy smile. He had a nice smile — the kind bards would have called a Cupid’s bow — and she always loved kissing him, losing…
