Rainy Days Without You

A Poem

the mist hangs like memories
which will dissolve with sunlight,
and are we that ephemeral, love,
that we’re nothing but drops
to shrink and disappear?

oh, these rainy days remind me
of broken promises kissed
right onto the pavement
while we spoke vows
we’d never keep.

the day sinks into night,
a moonlit veil for us,
and are we still so sure
we’ll last beyond
this frame?

oh, these rainy days take me
back to far-off moments
when i loved you so —
before the burn,
before the bite.

the eerie haze falls swift —
like a premonition,
like a wicked spell —
but are we standing still
or just falling softly?

oh, these rainy days kiss me
and make me miss you more —
and, oh, i never knew better
because here i stand,
waiting on you.
