I knew the queen better than anyone else, yet she still burned me in the end.
She was the stuff of beauty and sunlight. She was the gossamer of midnight and stardust. All her whims were ours to follow. All our lives were hers to wield at will.
The dark magic inside her made it so anyone blood-bound to her could not disobey her. She coerced her closest servants to drink of her blood to seal the eternal promise of fealty.
Love did not exist in her court. But our hearts knew no better.
We still longed for her.
