Whatever you do, don’t tell her she’s beautiful.

She’ll smile. That’s obvious enough. She’ll probably lean into your space, eager to prove you right about how pretty she is.

But you won’t notice till it’s too late that her eyes sparkle strangely.

Blink, and you see butterflies fly free of her hair.

Blink again, and the illusion — was it, though? — is gone.

You won’t stand a chance if she kisses you.

Oh, yes, get all starry-eyed. Look at Prince Charming over here.

You won’t like it when she brings you to the queen.

Worker bees are in high demand.

This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
