love, hold me close,
and let your kiss
do all the talking —
every little secret unleashed,
hungry hands, thirsty mouths,
truest lies, deceitful tongues

let’s stay the night,
soak up the moonlight,
find a new addiction —
every little petty thing,
lingering eyes, hushed exchanges,
too many words unsaid

color me red tonight,
my skin your canvas,
every sense flaring bright —
every little touch alight,
starlight swagger, firefly captive,
summer at its knees

think of me now,
kiss away the pain,
and make me forget
every little waking deception,
those things you said,
that little black dress

you warned me early,
but I knew better —
or so I thought —
every little passing gaze,
those flirty text messages,
that girl last week
