Oh, Savannah

It’s another night where I’m lost in you.

I’m watching you through the glass, Savannah, and you don’t even realize it. You’re like Alice that way, lost in a secret Wonderland of your own making — and, damn, it’s infuriating.

But I know better than to make amends this way. I’m an angel for a reason. My wings may not be my own anymore, but I know you’re hanging on threads I can’t even begin to fathom. I want you so badly, but you don’t even realize it.

Oh, Savannah, you burn like a beacon in the night. Oh, Savannah, you make me shiver in the darkest of nights.

The devil may have had his way with you, but I’m here on the end of your string. Tomorrow will be a different story. Tomorrow will be a better chapter in your life. You just need to have some faith. Try to have a little faith, will you? That would be a good thing for a change. I’d appreciate a little help here, you know?

But your eyes are cast downward, locked on games of gods and demons, and I can’t rouse you from your slumber. I want nothing more than to take your hand and draw you close until the moment when it’s time for us to awaken in the new world. This world isn’t our burden to carry anymore. You know that, right?

This story has an ending, that’s true — but we’re sitting on moonbeams somewhere far, far…
