i’m never going to say it —
please don’t ask it of me,
i beg you,
on my knees —
but
oh no
there’s something
about your eyes
that’s familiar,
aching in silence.

i could tell you a thousand tales,
but the truth is
i don’t know you at all
behind that veneer of yours,
this man of many shades —
an enigma in spurts and spasms,
someone who’s cutting edge
and again i say
oh no
because this is real.

i could go on journeys
to galaxies far away —
but at the end of the day
i want to know you
as if i knew you
in lives far from here
and
oh no
you’re magnificent
and don’t even realize it.

a million questions
sing on my tongue
at any given moment —
and all i want to do
is…
